Welcome to the Monthly Insider for March 2019 (Volume 3, Issue 3). This month’s topic is Hunting, Fishing & Trapping.
Here at Survival Dispatch, we strive to bring you the best information we can in order to help you weather any storm you may find yourself in. With that said, we also want to provide you useful information for everyday life. After all, we do not presently live in a state of emergency. We must pursue our passions and find leisure activities we enjoy. And it’s even better if we can combine our leisure activities with our prepping.
That’s why this month is all about hunting, fishing, and trapping. These are valuable skills, necessary skills, to have should we find ourselves in a long-term survival situation. But they also add value to our daily lives. These activities give us a chance to get outside and spend time in our natural, native environment. And it gives us the gift of spending time with young ones away from computers, phones, and game consoles.
Florida Fish and Wildlife had a program years ago called, Take a Kid Fishing. The intent was to promote the sport and encourage kids to get outside. We should be doing this every day for more reasons than you may think. Having a child or spouse that is comfortable outdoors will make any emergency where we find ourselves in adverse conditions outdoors easier to cope with. It’s a lot easier to instill confidence when you can say, “This is kind of like our last camping trip. We’re just going to have to sleep outside tonight.”
The outdoors, the wilder places, are your natural habitat. It’s what you’re designed to live in. Get comfortable with it. Take the time now to reacquaint yourself with the world you were meant to live in. Practice happens before game day. Once the game begins, you’ll only have what you brought with you.
