The desert is one of the harshest environments to survive in. Throughout history, various peoples have attempted to live in deserts with varying degrees of success. Some of these societies vanished without a trace, just as countless other individuals who had the misfortune of becoming lost in the desert.
But while the desert is a harsh place to live, survival is possible. Learning to recognize how and where to locate the scarce resources the desert has to offer is the key. In this edition of the Insider, we go into the skills you need to stay alive until rescue arrives. That is your goal, to simply survive until help comes.
Every year people are lost in the desert, and many of them die before they are found.
